Shut off the main water valve
Most Castle Rock homes have it in the basement or crawlspace where the water line comes through the front wall, often near the water meter. Turn the handle clockwise until it stops, or a quarter turn if it's a lever.
Cut power near the water
If water is near outlets, a furnace or the water heater, switch off that circuit at the breaker panel. Don't step into standing water to reach it.
Open a faucet at the lowest point
A basement or first-floor faucet drains pressure out of the lines so less water escapes from the break.
